Cindy Senyah Baah

Born and raised by West African Immigrants who migrated from Ghana to New York City in the 1960s, Cindy Senyah Baah received firsthand knowledge of the phrase "it takes a village to raise a child". With parents Frank and Victoria instilling in her to 'always' take care of friends and family, she saw the pain that her friends and family were going through in their relationships. Adding on pain in her own personal life, one day while on a NYC Transit train she began to write in her lyrics book as she often did through her love and influence of singing and performing R & B and Hip Hop. This time it wasn't lyrics she was writing, it was answers. Answers to questions that remain in the minds of her peers and loved ones and even in her own heart. "It was like a voice began to tell me to hurry up and write this" Baah states. She began by writing "I know I can't change people, only GOD can do that, but I can begin to have them believe that there are 'Better' ways of thinking and living their lives." Cindy had a vision in 2008, to change the game, change the community and eventually the world. She started the organization Determined To Educate, Inc.

DTE is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization established to re-invent communities worldwide looking to bridge the intergenerational gap. It's focus is to show the importance of bettering ourselves, bettering our communities and most importantly bettering our young. With support from reputable names such as Susan L. Taylor (Editor-in-Chief Emeritus, Essence Magazine and Founder of The NationalCARES Mentoring Movement), Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels (RUNDMC), Malik Yoba (Actor), Maverick Carter (Lebron James' business partner) Ilyasah Shabazz (daughter of The Late Dr. Betty Shabazz and The Late Malcolm X) Stephen Powell, (Executive Director of Mentoring USA) and so many others, Ms. Baah takes center stage passing the message of 'bringing community back' through such powerful programs as 'Better Man University', Better Woman University', 'The Journal Project- Our Stories' (Children's Literacy Program), 'Guest Professor' and DTE's current campaign "I Am Determined, The Choice is Mine"

"I am Determined, The Choice is Mine" is a campaign that we believe will bring positive awareness, not only to the children, but also to the parents and adults who don't have children. We are losing our future and we need to fight to save it. It takes all of us to take a stand and help our children. We have to let them know that they have a choice, a better choice to make. We need to be 'Determined' in order to succeed.

Currently, DTE, Inc. is running this campaign through an amazing PSA which can be seen on their interactive website http://www.determinedtoeducate.org. The campaign PSA features powerful faces and powerful messages.

Cindy vowes to continue her parents' legacy and pass the message on to her own children to keep the 'village' still going. She proclaims as a personal quote that "Nothing in life is free, hard work pays off and you must have complete FAITH in yourself and in GOD. With that all things are possible". As inspiration from her parents Victoria (Adwoa) and Frank (Kwame) Baah, who have both been called by the Lord lives on, she has promised to continue their legacy by believing in those and helping those to believe in themselves.
