This Year’s Invocation Given by Rev. Dr. Alfonso Wyatt!!

Our 2012 DTE Annual Awards Fundraising Gala is set to take place on the Evening of Thursday, November 29th. We are so honored that Rev. Dr. Alfonso Wyatt, Founder of Strategic Destiny LLC: Designing Futures Through Faith and Facts,will be giving this year’s Invocation!!

Rev. Dr. Alfonso Wyatt is founder of Strategic Destiny LLC: Designing Futures Through Faith and Facts. The mission of Strategic Destiny is to seamlessly and unapologetically blend faith with evidence based learning to transform institutions and the lives of individuals of all ages, struggling to cope with a staggering array of life challenges and systemic problems. Rev. Wyatt served as vice president of the Fund for the City of New York for two decades. The Fund is a highly regarded operating foundation and public charity started by the Ford Foundation in 1968.

He has visited all but three states in America in his role as public theologian, sought after keynote speaker and advocate on issues that negatively impact young people, families and challenged communities. He has mentored three generations of high profile leaders in the public, private, non-profit and faith community as well help raise several generations of young people. Rev. Dr. Wyatt, though retired from the Fund for the City of New York, continues building relationships and changing lives through his work as a consultant to government, the private sector, seminaries, non-profits, public schools, colleges, civic groups and foundations.

Rev. Alfonso Wyatt attended Howard University, Columbia Teacher’s College, The Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy, Columbia Institute for Nonprofit Management (INM) and New York Theological Seminary where he has served as an adjunct professor, consultant and is currently working on his D. Min.

Rev. Wyatt, along with his wife of 37 years, Ouida Wyatt, co-published their first book Soul Be Free Poems Prose Prayers. His next book is Gift of Mentoring: Personal Growth Leading to Spiritual Transformation due to be published in late 2012. Rev. Wyatt serves on Boards of organizations that advocate for young people and families caught in the vice grip of poverty, despair and the criminal justice system. He is the former Chair of The Black Leadership Commission on Aids New York Affiliate, and served as Chair and still functions as an advisor to The 21st Century Foundation Powered by Tides. Rev. Wyatt is a founding Board Member of The Harlem Children’s Zone Promise Academy Charter School.

Rev. Dr. Alfonso Wyatt, the son of two Baptist preachers, is an ordained Elder on the staff of The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York.
