DETERMINED TO EDUCATE, INC. INTRODUCES COMMUNITY2COMMUNITY (C2C), OUR INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM
Introducing Community2Community, an international program of Determined To Educate, Inc. It's vision is to support international communities toward self-sufficiency and economic stability. C2C's Mission is to serve as an umbrella organization to mobilize infrastructure resources simultaneously with a goal to stabilize and ultimately restore recovering communities. Community2Community's First Stop is Petit Goave, Haiti.
While the present needs of food, water, medical supplies, etc. remain immediate, the additional need to address the infrastructure goes far beyond that. There is a critical need to support the areas of education, micro-enterprise/job training, health and housing. We intend to address those areas simultaneously by working directly with the Haitian community leaders in partnership to perform a community inventory and assessment to create a plan to address those areas simultaneously. C2C will work to establish new foundations to improve community life now in the present to result in a self-sufficient future.

Division Leader, Marie Eusebe and the C2C team depart for Petit Goave, Haiti on July 29th. Stay tuned for pics and video of The C2C Journey!

The "C2C Back-to-School Backpack Donation Drive" has been organized in New York and Maryland to help the students of Petit Goave begin this school year with a fresh start. Monetary donations to the drive will go to the purchase and shipping of backpacks, school supplies and tents to house students and teachers during the rebuilding of the school . Thank you for investing in the future of the children of Petit Goave!

DONATE TO DETERMINED TO EDUCATE, INC. FOR OUR PROGRAM "THE JOURNAL PROJECT - OUR STORIES"
Beginning in mid October we will begin a program called "The Journal Project-Our Stories". We will be taking at risk teens from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx and teaming them up with Senior Citizens at the Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in the Bronx. The objective to this program is to preserve a generation of our history and to help increase interest in literacy by storytelling (and re-telling) of relevant topics told through relevant mechanism. We will pass along "our stories" through this intergenerational project. The benefits that participants will have are to show how "times have changed" and yet how times have "remained the same" through the eyes of our elders. Also, to have these stories captured by appropriate peer groups to re-tell to their peers, thereby completing the circle of literacy (story telling and then re-telling).
